Overview
BROWN SUGA // LGBTQ+ History Month // Queer AUNTIES & Futures Reimagined 🔥🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month with an elegant afternoon-to-evening queer social and party curated by queer Black and POC folx. Brown Suga is an intentional space that centres queer women, queer Global Majority, non-binary and trans folx, and their friends. We cultivate a welcoming, good-vibes-only environment where our community can meet, dance, and build lasting connections. Hosted inside the beautiful, newly opened Sir Devonshire Square Hotel, this edition invites us to honour our past while stepping confidently into what’s next. Expect soft lighting, a stylish setting with access to outdoor space, food, room to move, and space to connect. Whether you’re dancing, talking, or meeting someone new, Brown Suga is a gathering shaped to mobilise our community and imagine new possibilities. This is why we are dedicating February to queer aunties and our queer futures. The day starts with Queer Kizomba dance class led by The Blacker The Berry Project, offering a welcoming introduction to sensual movement, Afro-diasporic music, and traditional dance. No partner or prior experience is required. As the evening unfolds, DJs take over the room with a mix of old-school, nostalgic 90s sounds, Disco, R&B, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Border-free music, Afro-Latin, Dancehall, and Soca, creating an atmosphere where conversation flows as easily as the music. ✨ THEME: QUEER AUNTIES & FUTURES REIMAGINED🔥 Dress for the future you imagine. Tailored suits, Dapper, flowing dresses, bold silhouettes, and expressive styling are encouraged but not mandatory. Come to dance. Stay to talk. Leave having moved your body and expanded your circle, Whether you arrive with friends, partner(s), or on your own, you’re invited to our hosted mixer designed to make meeting others feel easy and natural. Food will be available throughout the event until 22:00, so you can refuel, linger, and enjoy the evening without rushing.
