Overview

Join the celebration of the survival of marginalized folx through live music and poetry on 25th May from 6 pm - 10 pm at The Common Press (BYOB). Hosted by Purple Days Movement, a contemporary and multi-sensory collective who are creating a brave space with guest performances from ODUENYI and Dan Amare. In a society where the value of human life is based on standards historically rooted in white supremacist (anti-Black), cis-hetero normative, patriarchal hierarchy, who is meant to survive? Certainly not melanated indigenous (perceived as Black/Brown), trans, queer, women, femmes, and otherwise non-white cis-male folx. Sounds of Survival is a space where we, the survivors of modern society, will come together to celebrate our survival through sound: Live music, poetry, dance, and a brave space to share stories of survival. đź’™Scheduleđź’™ Doors open at 6 pm with survivors' circle & Open Mic 7 pm - 9 pm Live music & poetry 9 pm - 10 pm DJ set with NicK 'No Abusers Allowed Dance Party"
